My journey started like yours.
I founded Root to Rise with one dream in mind – to help people break free from the exhaustion of the 9-5 career façade. I was in a well paid job, but I felt unfulfilled, spending my days commuting and devoting my time to someone else’s business. I was desperate to get out and explore the world – but I had no idea how. I had a great skillset, but no idea how to take it and turn it into a business. But after 5 years of trying, I’ve nailed it and now can travel more, work only a few hours a day, and live life on my terms.

Finding your purpose is key.
In order to get to a place where you’re living your dream, it’s imperative you figure out what you bring to the table. There’s a million jobs, freelancers and skillsets out there – so how can you take what you’ve got and turn it into something you actually love? Maybe you’re a Paid Media expert, tired of working on brands you don’t believe in, or a designer looking at fast food all day when you’d much prefer creating something with a bit of heart. The opportunities are out there. The first step on this journey is understanding what you want to do with the skills you have (or want to acquire)!
Get serious…but not too serious.
Many people will tell you building a business is hard – and they’re not wrong. In my first few years I took a serious pay cut from the 9-5 I left, but once I stopped working for someone else and devoted my time to building MY business, it all got more enjoyable. Life felt more exciting, my days were filled with things I actually wanted to do, and the opportunities came because I was open to receiving them. It can be a hard slog, but once you’ve got the confidence, the offering and the willpower, nothing can stop you from living life on your terms.
